OKLA. CITY – John Birdsell is on the hunt for his goods and Kenny Castor Junior.
“I got better things to do with my time than chase people around town for $1700 dollars,” John said.
The contractor was supposed to build John a new back lit awning at his self-storage business.
“Hoping I just get my money back,” he said. “I’d like to have my sign, but I won’t hold my breath.”
It’s not the first time a customers complained about castor not finishing a job on time.
Pat Knuppenburg gave him $1250.
We tracked down the sign and awning guy at his south side shop.
“I apologize [and] I’ll get her deposit back to her,” Castor Jr. said. “You knowm, [I’m] sorry for wasting her time so to speak.”
We followed Castor to his bank and he handed us the customer’s cash.
We gladly delivered it to Knuppenburg.
She’s satisfied, but there’s another customer still waiting on his sign.
The owner of China Queen says he’s losing customers.
“It’s a lighted sign and a big part of the business,” Bang Bui said. “A lot of people came by and thought we were closed.”
Castor Jr. owned up to his mistakes like a man.
“I’m not going to stand here and make any excuses,” he said. “I’m going to make it right.”
He says sometimes he gets overworked and overwhelmed by the demands of running a small business.
“Moving forward I’m going to change a few things, the way we do [do things] and just try to get better,” Castor Jr. said.
The owner of China Queen tells the In Your Corner team he’s willing give the business owner a second shot.
The same goes for John.
He said, “As long as we get the sign done in time we talked about and it’s all the way it’s supposed to be, I’ll be tickled pink.”
