CUSHING, Okla. - Audrey Shumard's kindness is what really left an impression on us and how trusting she is.
Daughter, Jean, says her sweet mom was targeted by Danny Joles, a traveling cement man, who promised to fix the cracks in her driveway.
Joles showed up with a hard sell, a bucket and broom.
“And, he took this powder and put it in this bucket, took it around back and put water in it out of her faucet,” Jean said.
Audrey says he was here and gone in a matter of 15 to 20 minutes.
Whatever Joles put down on the driveway washed away after the first big rain.
It appears the paver is always on the move traveling from state to state.
Our investigation turned up complaints and arrests across the country.
We alerted Cushing Police Chief Tully Folden about the complaint in his town.
“We're not going to tolerate it,” he said. “We don't want them in here and doing business this way.”
Chief Folden says these pavers troll neighborhoods, peddling their pavement scheme.
“Always do your due diligence on making sure you look into these people's backgrounds, see who they are, Better Business Bureau, contact references they might have done work for,” he said.
Jean put out her own warning on Facebook.
There's no telling where Joles is rolling off to next.
