Tornado victim can’t get contractor to finish repairs

OKLAHOMA CITY - Myrisha Guy is lucky to be alive.

Her mobile home was damaged by the May 6th tornado that leveled homes in south Oklahoma City.

Her home sustained damage to the central heat and air, roof and skirt.

More than eight months later her house is still a mess.

She hired contractor Chris Cole to do repairs.

She said her home wasn't insured, and FEMA denied her claim, so she filed a hardship and dipped into her retirement fund to pay Cole close to $10,000.

He replaced the roof but failed to repair the mobile home’s skirt or water damage inside.

He also allegedly left behind a giant hole in one of the bedrooms.

Myrisha’s daughter, Trinisha, said Cole keeps giving her and her mom the cold shoulder.

We did some digging into the contractor's past.

Court records show he's a registered sex offender.

Myrisha tells us he’s the one who did work on her home.

“I was just at a loss for words with that,” Trinisha said.

Cole is required by law to register with local law enforcement.

The address listed for him in the sex offender registry comes back to a home in Oklahoma City.

The person who answered the door said the contractor hasn't lived there in months.

We tried a second address tied to his back child support case.

There was no sign of Cole here either.

Myrisha's running out of patience and time.

She can't get her home insured until the repairs are completed.

“I'm really upset about it, but what can I do?” she said.

We contacted Oklahoma City Police to check Cole's sex offender status.

They verified we had the right address and said, if he's not living there, he could be in violation of the law.

We’re reaching out to some of our contacts to get Myrisha some help.

We’ll keep you posted.
