Caught on tape: IYC team sneaks up on family, surprises them with repairs

OKLAHOMA CITY - Our In Your Corner and a local business are giving back to a family in need.

Ever since the Furr family’s AC unit broke, they’ve been living in miserable conditions.

Mom, Kim, called our newsroom asking about getting a new fan.

We did one better.

The family couldn't afford the nearly $800 in repairs, so we hooked up with Jack Craven & Philip Thompson from Philips Heat & Air out of Newcastle to fix the leak and replace the broken parts for free.

“People need help. We're here to help,” Thompson said. “We're fortunate enough to be able to do something like that.”

Craven echoes that sentiment.

“I believe what comes around goes around,” he said. “If you help people, you'll be blessed later in life.”

The hand up couldn't have come at a better time for this family.

They're going through some major changes right now.

“My husband was working for a company for about 15 years. They let him go,” Kim said.

“It's like starting all over again.”

The cool air should make life a little easier to deal with.

“Thank you so much for this,” Kim said. “Thank you. Bless y'all so much."
