Sandra King likes to keep her freezer stocked.
The horse enthusiast purchased steak, chicken, and fish from Great Western Meats totaling about $700.
Half of the order was supposed to go to a family in Ohio.
“My girlfriend ended up having to be on dialysis and her husband was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer,” explains Sandra.
Sandra’s beef is with salesman Shane McBride.
He never sent her friends their shipment.
Sandra says it’s been about 5 months, and still no meat.
No meat, but McBride still has her cash.
Sandra is well done with this situation. She says McBride keeps ignoring her.
We pulled up loads of customer complaints online.
We know Great Western Meats earned an ‘F’ from the Better Business Bureau.
The phone number listed on the company’s website is out of order, and no one’s ever at the shop when we stop by.
So, we went looking for McBride at his house.
No one answered.
We finally got him on his cell.
“I’m glad you called me, man,” McBride told us. “I keep forgetting about taking care of her.”
McBride says he mailed Sandra’s second order of meat to someone else.
“I accidentally wrote down the wrong address or she gave me the wrong address,” explains McBride. “No matter what, it’s on me. I understand it’s on me.”
We pressed him for a refund, and his time, but McBride declined.
“I’m busy. I don’t want to do an interview on TV. I don’t want to be on TV,” says Mcbride. “She’s going to be taken care of, so it doesn’t really matter.”
When we suggested that Sandy was only getting taken care of because In Your Corner contacted him, McBride said, “No, she’s not. Actually, I was planning on taking care of her real quick here.”
Our Grade A prime efforts paid off.
Not only did we get Sandra her refund, but we got Schwab Meat Company to mail Sandra and her out-of-state friends several large orders of assorted meats for free.
Great Western Meats shut its doors for good.
McBride tells me he’s still going door-to-door peddling meat.
He wouldn’t tell us the name of his new company.
