EL RENO, Okla. – People from all over the world come to Sid’s to try one of their famous onion burgers.
On Friday, rumors started swirling around town that President Obama was planning a surprise visit to Sid’s to try one for himself.
Never has owner, Marty Hall, been so close to feeding the president.
“I don’t know how I would react if the president orders a hamburger,” he said. “[That would] be pretty special.”
After all, President Obama famously craves a juicy, well constructed cheeseburger.
Lots of Sid’s regulars are big on beef and their Commander In Chief.
Getting President Obama’s stamp of approval would be the icing on the cake or, in this case, the heaping pile of fried onions on the burger.
“I would like to have a Presidential onion burger,” owner Marty Hall said.
President Obama never showed up at Sid’s Diner. Patrons still got to enjoy their favorite onion burger in town.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of people tried to catch a glimpse of the president as he headed toward El Reno, but they didn’t really get their wish.
The presidential motorcade arrived at the prison by way of another route.
“I feel he needs to leave and come this way,” one woman said. “I hope to see the window down and his hand going like this.”
