Custom sign installer dragging his feet

OKLAHOMA CITY - Sammy Khader makes smoking the hookah look easy.

He offers a chill experience at his hookah lounge, Hubbly Bubbly.

Right now, he’s mixing up things with new hours and opening up a second, retail location.

Part of the upgrades includes more visibility.

He hired sign installer, TJ Hammons, to make, install and hook up a pair of outdoor signs.

Two months and $3,200 later, there’s still no sign of Hammons or the goods.

Court records show Hammons has money problems and was sued by at least two customers for breach of contract.

We hightailed it over to his northwest Oklahoma City home.

Hammons told us he recently broke his ankle and his health problems delayed installation of the signs.

He assured us he's finishing up the final touches on both signs.

“I've got pictures of them already made,” he said. “They're at the shop.”

Protect yourself and your money.

In Khader's case, he typed in the words "sign contractor" online and went with the first contractor who popped up.

"It really puts my guard up,” Khader said.

We're giving Hammons until the end of the week to install the signs.

We'll check back.

Background checks are important, and it's real simple to search court records in our state.
