OKLA. CITY - Fan donations continue to pour in this summer for our Fans 4 Oklahomans program benefiting the Salvation Army.
First year sponsor, The Printers of Oklahoma, and its owner Awet Tsehaye are putting on their first ever fan drive.
Two weeks into it and they've already collected 3500 dollars from family, friends, clients and customers.
Awet came to America with his family seeking a better future.
He was born and raised in a third world country where it gets real hot.
He couldn't have used a fan to cool off with even if he wanted to since his West African village had no electricity or running water.
“This country has done a lot for me, given me the tools and resources to be the best I can be,” he said. “This is a small way of me and my team, Printers of Oklahoma, giving back.”
One week to go and Awet is halfway to his goal of collecting 500 fans.
The Printers of Oklahoma will be collecting donations through the end of the week.
Drop off new fans or cash at 1601 N. Portland Ave.
You can also drop off a new fan at the Salvation Army's Center of Hope at 1001 N. Pennsylvania during normal business hours.
